1) Lucky You feat. Joyner Lucas

Standout Lyric:

“Choppers and jammies, a partridge, a pear tree My twelve days of Christmas was nothin’ but lies”

“Lucky You” marks the first collaboration between Eminem and Joyner Lucas. Joyner Lucas, known for songs including I’m not Racist, Winter Blues, and Ultrasound does an incredible job lyrically on Lucky You with witty and fun verses like “You play your cards, I reverse on you all and I might just drop four like on Uno”. After Lucas’s verses, Eminem comes in rapping about how “mumble” rapping has taken over the rap scene in the past few years. He mocks the modern “mumble” rappers by stealing the popular “triplet flow” which refers to the three notes for one beat style of music popularized by the Migos. This song rivals some of the best in Eminem’s music career.

2) Greatest

Standout Lyric:

“But like a wedding band
You gotta be diamond to even climb in the ring”

“Greatest” is filled with clever wordplay and great production from Mike WiLL Made-it. Eminem, in “Greatest”, criticizes artists who have over saturated the hip-hop scene with sub-par music. Eminem also responds to Die Antwoord who posted multiple videos criticizing, Eminem, for mispronouncing their name in “Untouchable”. Eminem’s lyrics and manipulation of his flow speed on “Greatest” show he is still one of the best in the game.

3) The Ringer

Standout Lyric:

“Billions of views, your ten cents are two”

On “The Ringer” Eminem, similar to “Greatest”, critiques the current rap game.  Some of the Artists that Eminem disses include Lil Xan, Lil Yatchy, and many more. He also goes after the critics who thought that Revival was one of the worst albums of Eminem’s career. Overall, this song was perfect for introducing the listener to how the rest of the album was going to sound like.

After Eminem’s last album Revival, which was destroyed critically, he needed an album that proved all the critics wrong. In the beginning, Eminem seems to succeed in this goal by showing that he has not lost any of his lyrical genius. After the beginning, of the album Eminem seems to lose the same quality. Personally, I think Jessie Reyez was a mistake as a feature in Nice Guy and Good Guy. If Eminem only made this album a six to nine song album, like the recent Kayne albums, by cutting out the end of the album this album could easily have been a 95+.
