MGK’s Rap Devil Lyrics Explained
by: Alexander Z.
The new Kamikaze album from Eminem released less than a week ago. On one of the standout tracks “Not Alike” Eminem directly calls out Machine Gun Kelly for his infamous tweet about Eminem’s daughter Hailie. In response to Eminem’s verse, MGK came out with “Rap Devil” a track filled with some of the best verses of MGK’s career.
Best Lyrics from “Rap Devil” explained
“I think my dad’s gone crazy,” yeah, Hailie, you right
Dad’s always mad cooped up in the studio, yellin’ at the mic”
MGK references the cameo from Hailie on Eminem’s “My Dad’s Gone Crazy” reaffirming Hailie’s statement saying her “dad had gone crazy” and adding more fuel to the fire to this beef calling out Hailie again.
“Or we could get gully, I’ll size up your body
And put some white chalk around it”
To “get gully” means to get violent and “white chalk” references the old police procedure to outline dead bodies with chalk.
“We know you get nervous, Rabbit
I see Momma’s spaghetti all over your sweater”
Rabbit is the name of Eminem’s character in his breakout role in 8 mile. Momma’s spaghetti is an allusion to the standout single from 8 mile “Lose Yourself”.
“I’m not afraid,” okay Oscar the Grouch, chill on the couch”
“I’m not afraid” is a popular bar from “Not Afraid”. MGK in this verse makes fun of Eminem’s tone in the chorus of “Not Afraid” by comparing him to Oscar the Grouch who is known for his deep and gritty voice.
“Last time you saw 8 Mile was at home on a treadmill”
Eminem after becoming sober in 2008 picked up a new addiction: running. Supposedly Eminem runs almost 8.5 miles a day. MGK mocks Eminem’s recovery here by ridiculing Eminem’s current passion.
