It is extremely hard to find a song on this mixtape that would be considered a “bad song”. Every song on this mixtape is infused with classic Chance beats and verses. Chance experiments with elements of almost every genre including jazz, soul, and gospel.
This is the type of song I like to hear from Chance. The production on 65th and Ingleside rivals the production on I Might Need Security. Chance raps about his relationship with his child’s mother and fiancée. This allows for the song to have a very personal and charismatic feel throughout.
Overall Friday Night Lights has many highlights in lyrics and production that I wish J. Cole would bring back into his arsenal in future albums.
